MAJOR returns to Ratheniska for Ploughing 2023

Major Equipment Ploughing 2023

Major Equipment returns to the National Ploughing Championships 2023 with its industry-leading machinery recognised for reliability, durability and efficiency.

With its low power requirement and fuel input savings, the Major Cyclone mulcher remains the choice implement for crop residue, scrubland control and conventional pasture maintenance. Heavy duty gearbox driveline powers multiple cutting heads fitted with ‘blender-style’ blades for cutting and shredding vegetation into a fine mulch.  The Major Cyclone uses at least 25% less fuel than flail systems while maintaining impressive forward working speeds.

Gordon Sullivan is a mixed tillage farmer outside Kinsale, Co Cork. “The Cyclone is fully mounted and is easy to operate,” says Gordon.  “The crop residues are completely chopped and disappear easily into the remaining cultivated soil tilth,” continues Gordon. “The mulched green manure increases the organic matter in the soil, which has a direct and positive impact on yields.”

The Major Cyclone is fully galvanised for the ultimate protection against corrosion and is available in working widths from 2.0m (6’5”) up to 7.3m (24’). Select models of the Major Cyclone will be on display together with a selection of grass toppers.

Major Equipment will also showcase its slurry handling equipment including a 2600LGP tanker and 7.5m Trailing Shoe.  The Major Trailing Shoe sits close to the rear of the tanker for better weight distribution and is designed to fit any size tanker without welding or fabricating. The 7.5m model has 30 outlets and 40mm pipes fitted with high carbon steel coulters that creates small furrows in the soil where slurry is deposited to minimise nutrient loss. Buyers can choose between Vogelsang or Mastek macerator.   The Trailing Shoe folds into 2.4m transport width and full lighting board is fitted as standard.

MAJOR will reintroduce its Grass Slasher at Ploughing 2023. The 605SL is a single rotor machine designed for general pasture maintenance and overgrown sites. The machine is fitted with two heavy duty swinging blades on a compound blade beam. Heavy duty gearbox driveline powers the blades, which is capable of tackling material up to 30mm in diameter. The slasher has a 2.0m working width and is fully galvanised.

Call into the stand (Row 22, Stand 343) at the 2023 National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois, from September 19th – 21st, 2023.
