Alpine Slurry Tanker

The Alpine tanker design is based on the contractor LGP specification, but with a dropped axle to give a low centre of gravity. This results in less ground pressure than standard axle tankers and minimal ground damage even in wet conditions.

There are three sizes available: 2150, 2300 and 2670 Gallons. As with all MAJOR tankers, the inside is baffled to prevent wave motions and improve operator safety.

We took delivery of our Major 2300-gallon Alpine Tanker and trailing shoe in December 2012 and in just a few months I could see the benefits of this method of placing slurry. The accuracy of spread is excellent. The grass receives the nutrient right where it needs it and does not coat the leaves, preventing grass growth. We can do the 2nd and 3rd cut of silage with no problems of grass contamination. We really like the dropped axle on the Alpine tanker as it allows us to access areas of our farm that we wouldn’t dream of bringing any other slurry tanker.

Our Major Alpine 2670-gallon tanker is fitted with wide, low-ground pressure tyres and Major’s own trailing shoe system, which was quite a step away from our old tanker with a splash plate. We like the trailing shoe system as the grass receives the nutrient right where it needs it and does not coat the leaves, preventing grass growth. We like the stepped axle and its solid construction which is essential for surviving long days on steep fields
