Major Equipment Scoop Leadership Award

Áine Lecky and Eibhlin Murphy from Major Equipment Intl Ltd in Ballyhaunis, were the winners of the Anna May McHugh Female Leadership in Agriculture perpetual trophy.  This award recognises the contribution of females within the Irish Agri Business sector and was presented to the sisters by Enterprise Ireland, Irish Farmers Journal and the National Ploughing Association at this year’s National Ploughing Championships.

Anna May McHugh has been at the helm of the Irish ploughing scene for over 60 years, having stated working for the National Ploughing Association in 1934 and becoming the Managing Director in 1973.

Commenting on the award, Eibhlin Murphy from Major Equipment Intl Ltd, said: “We are very humbled and honoured.  Over the years Anna May McHugh broke down barriers and paved the way with opportunities in the agricultural industry for women like Aine and I.  For those opportunities and for this award we are very grateful.  We will work hard to keep the flag flying for women in our industry and continually aspire to make Anna May McHugh and Irish Agri Business sector proud.”
