TAMS and Organic Farming Scheme

The Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) provides grant aid to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

TAMS 3 consists of 10 different schemes:

  • Animal Welfare, Nutrient Storage Scheme (AWNSS)
  • Young Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (YFCIS)
  • Organic Capital Investment Scheme (OCIS)
  • Dairy Equipment Investment Scheme (DES)
  • Low Emissions Slurry Spreader Scheme (LESS)
  • Tillage Capital Investment Scheme (TCIS)
  • Pig and Poultry Capital Investment Scheme (PPIS)
  • Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme (FSCIS)
  • Women Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (WFCIS)
  • Sola Capital Investment Scheme (SCIS)

New Investments for TAMS 3

Wide range of new investments included under TAMS 3 include pasture management machinery, including soil aerators. Also, mulchers to deal with encroaching scrub are to be included.

Major mowers eligible under TAMS include the Centre Mounted Mulcher, MJ39 Hedge Cutter, and the Major Cyclone.

Grant Aid under the Organic Capital Investment Scheme

The Organic Farming Scheme is designed to support organic farmers. Under the CAP funded scheme, a farmer receives per hectare payments as well as participation payment to cover additional administrative costs annually.  The Organic Capital Investment Scheme (OCIS) provides financial aid to organic farmers. Up to 60% grant aid on key equipment with a €90,000 investment ceiling.

Applicants must register with the Irish Organic Association, who can assist with application process and registration to the DFAM as an organic operator.
