Colvoy Equipment, the distributor of Major products in Eastern Canada, supplies industrial mowers and specialty mowing machinery including roadside mowing equipment throughout Ontario. The Brantford-based business recently hosted Major Equipment for a week of demonstrations with the new MJ71-400 Swift (3-point linkage) rollermower.
“We went to cities like St. Thomas and Cobourg around Toronto,” Derek Scholten of Colvoy Equipment begins. “The authorities were blown away with the performance of the new Swifts. They especially love how the grass is evenly distributed out the back of the mower and the striped effect, which they don’t get with the current offering.”
Keeping parks and recreational facilities clean for public use is a priority in this part of North America. Cutting grass three times a week is not unheard of here.
“The benefit of tractor-mounted machinery is better utilisation rate – with one tractor you can be cutting grass in summer and spreading salt or moving snow in winter,” says Eoin Murphy from Major Equipment. “You get a 70% saving on the purchase price of a machine straight off the bat plus an additional 50% savings on using the machine.”
Colvoy and Major will be showcasing 2.4m and 4.0m versions of new S2 Swift rollermowers at the upcoming Landscape Ontario Congress, Canada’s premier horticulture and green industry trade show and conference, from January 8-10, 2019.
