Major Wins Agri-Engineering Award at National Ploughing Championships
Major Equipment Intl Ltd has won an award at the 2016 Innovation Arena awards, at the Ploughing Championships in Co. Offaly.
The company won the Agri-Engineering Established Company award for the Major 3.5m Cyclone Mower.
These awards recognise innovative agri-tech capability and new product development in the agriculture sector. The 2016 Innovation Arena Awards were announced by Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD and were sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, Irish Farmers Journal and the National Ploughing Association.
The Major Cyclone Mower was awarded the gold medal for its innovate design. This mower has been designed to do the work of a flail mower at a fraction of the running and maintenance costs associated with a flail mower. Its patented blade system makes the mower suitable not only for everyday grass management but for heavy scrub and brush clearance. The HP requirement is much lower than a traditional flail mower.
A record 195 applications to exhibit were received with 68 exhibitors selected, all of whom are finalists in the Awards competition.
